PUMPKIN CARVING IDEA #1

This is our favourite pumpkin carving idea that won a competition for the best pumpkin  – we had a little orange satsuma lying around so decided to paint this up to look like a mini-pumpkin being eaten – if you can actually get hold of a mini-pumpkin – even better!

PUMPKIN CARVING IDEA #2

This is a pretty quick and easy pumpkin carving idea. When we carved out the mouth of this pumpkin – we thought it would be cool to keep the pumpkin cut-out and use it for the tongue!

Adding extras to your pumpkin is a great way to get creative – such as making this pumpkin smoke an acorn! Or it could be a carrot! Whatever you have lying around! The key is to add your own unique ideas and give it a unique twist

Sometimes your pumpkin has other things going on with it that you can make use of if you just think outside the box a little bit – like turning it on it’s side and making a nose out of its stem!

Here’s another creative pumpkin carving idea – which uses tooth picks for teeth. The natural ‘warts’ pumpkin skin adds another nice little touch – instead of looking for the perfectly formed pumpkin – choose one that has quirky shapes and things going on with its skin!

Pumpkin carving ideas for Halloween

As autumn rolls in and Halloween approaches, it’s the perfect time to get creative with some pumpkin carving ideas. From traditional spooky faces to modern, minimalist designs, there’s something to suit every style and skill level. Whether you’re carving with the kids or crafting a masterpiece for your doorstep, the process of turning a simple pumpkin into art is one of the season’s most enjoyable traditions. Think outside the box this year—try geometric patterns, animal silhouettes, or even a classic movie theme to make your pumpkin stand out.

Quick pumpkin carving ideas

If you’re short on time but still want to make an impact, there are plenty of easy pumpkin carving ideas that deliver great results with minimal effort. Using stencils can help you achieve clean, professional-looking designs, while tools like pumpkin saws or rotary cutters make the process much smoother. For a modern twist, mix carving with painting—combine a carved moon and stars with a painted night sky, or create a half-carved design that glows beautifully from within.

GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR PUMPKIN

For those looking to really impress, explore some unique pumpkin carving ideas that go beyond the usual grin and ghoulish eyes. Try layering pumpkins of different sizes for a totem-style display, or carve words or short quotes for an elegant touch. Adding props like candles, fairy lights, or natural elements such as leaves and twigs can enhance your final display. Whatever your approach, the key is to have fun, embrace the mess, and let your creativity shine through every cut and curve.

More people enjoying the outdoors is great - but a small minority are leaving rubbish behind. No one gets paid to clean up natural beauty spots, (I know I'm mainly preaching to the converted) but please take all your litter home and also don’t scorch the earth with fires & BBQs which takes years to recover. You'll be an absolute outdoors legend if you pick up & dispose of any rubbish you do see from others. Finally, when sharing your pics online, please also consider encouraging responsible & sustainable enjoyment of the outdoors too. We're all influencers to some extent!
