Highfield Hotel Keswick best lake district hotel views cumbria lakes book
The views from our room in the Highfield Hotel in Keswick where simply stunning. You look right over Derwent Water towards Borrowdale, my favourite Lake District valley.

An impartial review of the Highfield Hotel in Keswick, Lake District

For those familiar with my blog – you will know how much I love the English Lake District, and as a base when staying in hotels & B&B’s I often head for Keswick as there is enough going on there with plenty of pubs, restaurants, shops and other activities if the weather is not the best for walking! It’s also not as manic and touristy as Windermere!

The Highfield Hotel, a superb location in Keswick

The Highfield Hotel in Keswick is a great place to stay as it is only a few minutes walk to the town centre but has amazing unspoilt views over Derwent Water and the surrounding mountains towards the Borrowdale Valley, which is one of my favourite views in the whole of the Lakes.

The absolutely amazing view from our room at the Highfield Hotel in Keswick, Lake District, UK

Rooms in The Highfield Hotel, Keswick

The rooms are modern and tastefully decorated, the views from the rooms at the front of the hotel are incredible, and the garden is a nice place to relax on a morning or evening. The breakfasts are really nice too with plenty of choice. Parking is also free at the rear of the hotel which is a bonus in Keswick.

The Highfield Hotel – highly recommended

All in all when taking into consideration the reasonable price of this 3 Star Silver Award Hotel, the views, location, decor and food, the Highfield Hotel is a highly recommended place to stay in the Lake District – just look at that view from the room above!

The Highfield Hotel, built in 1885, looks impressive from the front in a classic Lake District style using local Slate, and the garden is an excellent place to relax.

The best Lake District walks near The Highfield Hotel in Keswick

Keswick is one of Lakelands best destinations as there is plenty to do, even on rainy days with all the pubs, restaurants and shops. We love the walks you can do around Keswick and here’s 2 of my favourite must-do walks in the Keswick area if you are looking for an excuse to visit this wonderful part of the world 🙂

I'm may be preaching to the converted - but please respect the outdoors and don't leave any mess behind to spoil it for everyone else #leavenotrace

I’m hopeful that being outdoors makes us appreciate our natural world more and makes us want to look after it and live more sustainably. Environmental challenges can see overwhelming - but I think if we each can do our little bit, added together, it spreads like ripples through a pond, and eventually changes the world.
