Review: Glamping Pods with Hot-tub at Wigwam Holidays, Forcett Grange, near Richmond
If ever I stay somewhere that I highly recommend and think readers of this blog would like, I’ll share a little review and recommendation. With the Covid-19 pandemic – finding a family holiday in the summer of 2020 proved rather tricky but we found this nice little Glamping pod alternative in Yorkshire complete with Hot-tub!
Glamping with Wigwam Holidays at Forcett Grange.
What appealed to us with the Glamping Pods at Forcett Grange was that it was all self-contained, with our pod having a shower, toilet, kitchenette with hob/fridge & microwave – everything we needed really so we didn’t have to use any shared facilities. This Glamping Pod site is near the small village of Forcett Grange in North-Yorkshire, and a 15 min drive to Richmond or Barnard Castle. There’s plenty to do in the area!

There is only 6 Glamping Pods at this Wigwam Holidays site in Forcett Grange, so it was quite peaceful and quiet. The site is also set within a small old quarry so it’s sunken below the surrounding ground level so it’s out the wind and a good little sun-trap when the sun shines. All Glamping Pods have a wood-fired hot-tub (extra-cost), which are already warm when you arrive and maybe take around 20 mins to heat-up fully when you add some wood to the burner. I’d never used a wood-fired Hot-tub – but they are easy to use and fairly quick to heat-up (the hot-tubs are big enough for 4, plastic lined and no-jets but do have lights). |

There is plenty of space within the light & airy Glamping Pods, which have tastefully designed interiors. There are 2 sofa-beds that fold out to make 2 doubles (in total they can sleep up to 5) There is a well-equipped kitchenette with fridge, 2 electric hobs, sink, microwave and plenty of cutlery & plates. There’s also a little table inside as well as a bench outside. The sky lights are a nice touch and importantly for us – through the door at the back it leads into a spacious en-suite with shower, toilet & sink – so it’s got everything you need! |

Family photo time 🙂 You have the option to add a fire pit to your booking for £10 which I’d recommend as they can also be used as a BBQ. |

After toasting some marshmallows on the fire pit with the kids, when they were in bed it was the perfect time to have some more drinks around the fire right in front of our Glamping Pod 🙂 |
So there you have it! We had a really good few nights here and will definitely be returning. I’ve stayed in a few Glampng Pods over the years – and this is by far the best in terms of facilities within the Glamping Pod and it’s setting. My only slight issue is that the beds aren’t the comfiest – (I like a soft thick mattress) but this is to be expected in a Glamping Pod – its not a hotel! Next time we’ll probs bring a mattress topper for our double (the kids slept fine).
It’s a little pricier than your bog standard Glamping Pod – but again you get more within it – so I didn’t mind paying the £246 for 2 nights. It’s an extra £35 per night for the Hot-tub and £10 for the fire-pit & logs.
