Shellbraes Farmhouse holiday rental Northumberland Hexham Corbridge best cottage
The beautiful Shellbraes farmhouse in Northumberland – the perfect Northumberland holiday getaway for  large group or family

Review: Shellbraes Farmhouse holiday cottage in Northumberland

We’ve used this holiday rental 3 times now and that should tell you all you need to know as we love it and highly recommend it – so I thought I would (reluctantly 🙂 share our findings on this blog (I did consider not promoting it as it’s our good little secret holiday getaway)

The farmhouse itself sleeps 10, with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a play room, large kitchen, dining room and living room with traditional Log Burner. It’s tastefully decorated in a modern farmhouse style and feels very homely. We also like the fact you can book 2 nights at a weekend and it doesn’t have to be 3 (handy for school term time).

Shellbraes is not too far from Corbridge and Hexham in Northumberland, in a nice secluded spot of its own, yet it’s easy to find.

The entrance to Shellbraes gives you a sense of the scale of the old, nicely renovated farm building

The kitchen is amazing and very large with everything you need included – you literally don’t need to take a thing. It comes complete with large oven, dishwasher, kitchen island, microwave, table and under floor heating.

The living room is again a very generous size complete with cosy couches, log burner, grand piano and telescope!
The log burner is great to put on in those cold winter months and warms the place up in no time

The maser bedroom is a very generous size and comes complete with separate dressing room and large en-suite bathroom
Here you can see the master en-suite large bath and separate shower

The other 4 bedrooms are styled in a lovely clean, modern farmhouse style with exposed beams, comfy beds and superb views.

Here is the impressive main bathroom with large shower with piping hot water and free standing bath
We often visit in winter time and it’s picture post card views

We certainly love Shellbraes Farmhouse cottage in Northumberland and will definitely be back again as it’s become a bit like a home away from home has this little holiday rental

As you can see this place is stunning – inside & out and the prices are very reasonable too. There is also an adjoining studio apartment if you require extra space. It’s great as a getaway for families, friends, couples and also for wedding parties with Matfen Hall not far away. As mentioned I highly recommend it – as I have done to friends who have also stayed here and loved also. You can find out more on their website and book directly and the owners are very friendly and helpful. Visit http://shellbraes.com

I hope this website helps you plan some superb outdoors adventures! I'm probably preaching to the converted - but please respect the outdoors, don't trash it and leave only footprints.

I’m hopeful that being outdoors makes us appreciate the natural world more and want to look after it and live more sustainably. We’ve only got one planet on which we all rely on - and I think if we each can do our little bit, added together, it spreads like ripples through a pond, and changes the world.
