WALK OVERVIEW:

WALK DISTANCE: 2.3 miles
WALK TIME: 2 hours
WALK DIFFICULTY: MODERATE

MAP ROUTE OF THIS THIRLMIRE WALK TO RAVEN CRAG

This walk starts at the small car park (3/4 cars) at the foot of Raven Crag and goes in an anti-clockwise direction, heading first towards Benn Man and then onto Raven Crag via Castle Crag. You’ll want to allow plenty of time to admire the views once at Raven Crag.

MY RECOMMENDED PHONE MAP APP

I use OS MAPS to plan routes and then save them to my phone, and the app shows you exactly where you are on the route (even when you have no signal) – so no more taking a wrong turn!

Most visitors to the area head straight to Raven Crag – but my favourite view is actually on the way up to Benn Man – where you get stunning Thirlmire views with Raven Crag in the foreground (pictured to the right of this photo) after this vantage point this walk then takes you to the top of Raven Crag.

More people enjoying the outdoors is great - but a small minority are leaving rubbish behind. No one gets paid to clean up natural beauty spots, (I know I'm mainly preaching to the converted) but please take all your litter home and also don’t scorch the earth with fires & BBQs which takes years to recover. You'll be an absolute outdoors legend if you pick up & dispose of any rubbish you do see from others. Finally, when sharing your pics online, please also consider encouraging responsible & sustainable enjoyment of the outdoors too. We're all influencers to some extent!
