WILD CAMPING IN THE LAKE DISTRICT & ENJOYING THE SIMPLER THINGS IN LIFE

Wild camping in the Lake District is an experience unlike no other that immerses you right in the heart of nature, offering a rare sense of freedom and break from the modern world in a simpler way of living. It’s a chance to recharge, reset and clear the mind.

As the sun dips behind rugged peaks, the landscape is bathed in golden hues, and the only sounds are the rustling of leaves and the distant flow of cascading water. Pitching a tent by a secluded tarn or on a quiet fellside allows for breathtaking, uninterrupted views of epic sunsets, star-filled skies and misty morning sunrises.

There’s a deep satisfaction in carrying everything you need on your back, cooking a simple meal as the sun goes down, and waking up to the crisp, fresh air of the Lake District mountains. Away from the crowds, wild camping fosters a unique connection with the land and encourages an appreciation for the raw beauty of the Lake District’s wilderness.

Wild camping is quite simply one of my favourite hobbies and it’s free and available to all! (Once you have the gear that is – and it doesn’t need to be expensive).

MY FAVOURITE LAKE DISTRICT SPOTS

Below are a collection of photos from some of my favourite wild camps in the Lakes. I won’t share the locations on this post – as I think one of the joys of wild camping is the sense of adventure and discovering wild camping spots for yourself. This post is just a way of trying to show the beauty of wild camping and inspire you to want to give it a go your self and go off on your own adventures in search of an idyllic escape…

More people enjoying the outdoors is great - but a small minority are leaving increasing amounts of rubbish behind. No one gets paid to clean up natural beauty spots, so please take all your litter home and also don’t scorch the earth with fires & BBQs which takes ages to recover. You'll be an absolute outdoors legend if you pick up & dispose of any rubbish you do see left by the numpties. Furthermore, anyone sharing nature's beauty on social media is an influencer in some way — so as well as sharing photos, let’s also encourage responsible & sustainable enjoyment of the outdoors too!
