MY HADRAW FORCE PHOTO FEATURES ON A ROYAL MAIL STAMP

After months of keeping it quiet I’m chuffed to be able to announce that one of my photos of Hardraw Force in the Yorkshire Dales features in the latest Royal Mail stamp collection of UK Waterfalls (out June 23rd).

Having my own stamp takes me all the way back to primary school – when we used to design our own stamps – a fun creative project that I used to really enjoy (I’m still a designer now!) – so to have my own stamp now is canny cool (to me anyway!) and a proud moment.

These days communication is instant, easy, disposable and taken for granted – so it’s easy to forget that letters and stamps were once the only way to keep in touch. (I’m old enough to remember the days beofre email!) That’s why I think collections like this are still worth celebrating – they can showcase some stunning places – while keeping a bit of that history alive. So I’m really happy to now have my own stamp and it’s something I’ll treasure.

This is my photo of Hardraw Force that features on the stamp. It was actually taken on a mobile phone this one as I made my way around Hardraw Force up a steep banl, and it was a little damp with the spray so a quick snap then I was gone. Just goes to show you don’t always need the best equipment – just a bit of luck with the conditons and more importantly a keen eye for a composition.
