What a stunning area of the Lake District – Loughrigg Tarn in the foreground, Elterwater to the centre left and the Langdale Pikes in the distance. This photo was taken by my drone and the walk is relatively flat with some stunning low level views, made all the more special with the autumn colours – read on to learn more….

Elterwater Loughrigg tarn walk map route

You can see the general route here as shown on a 3D screen capture from OS Maps. It’s relatively flat in lake District terms!  Starts in the distance from Elterwater then goes to the left of the pic to Skelwith Bridge then onto Loughrigg Tarn and back. See map below.

Here’s the more detailed map route, which goes in an anti-clockwise direction from Elterwater, to Skelwith Bridge then Loughrigg Tarn. I’ve blogged about this route before, in summer, in more detail (see bottom of page), but it’s worth visiting in all seasons, especially in autumn!

PHOTOS OF WHAT TIME EXPECT ON THIS STUNNING LAKE DISTRICT AUTUMN WALK

Elterwater from above by drone, the path is very clear and accessible around here – even good for wheelchairs and pushchairs!

LOUGHRIGG TARN

Loughrigg Tarn is one of my favourite places in the Lake District – here’s some photos of what to expect around here. It’s a must visit Lake District place in my humble opinion – I visit in all seasons – autumn, summer & winter are extra special – whether to amble around it or go for a swim!

More people enjoying the outdoors is great - but a small minority are leaving rubbish behind. No one gets paid to clean up natural beauty spots, (I know I'm mainly preaching to the converted) but please take all your litter home and also don’t scorch the earth with fires & BBQs which takes years to recover. You'll be an absolute outdoors legend if you pick up & dispose of any rubbish you do see from others. Finally, when sharing your pics online, please also consider encouraging responsible & sustainable enjoyment of the outdoors too. We're all influencers to some extent!
